I’ve been writing about adventure, creativity, and enthusiasm at Semi-Rad.com since 2011, and had a column that syndicates my Semi-Rad stories at OutsideOnline.com since 2017. I’m starting to share that same writing on Substack, including my Friday Inspiration posts, a weekly collection of links that’s become one of the most popular things I create, going out to 15,000+ readers every week, going strong at 400+ installments. I started it as a way to share the things I used to procrastinate my work, on the day I think most people are procrastinating their work (Friday), and now it’s become my job. I think of it as helping people discover fun stuff, without using an algorithm.
I try to look for adventure—less “climbing Mount Everest” and more “let’s find a new way to have a little fun”—in the everyday, and create generally positive stories and content.
I’ve never charged for any of the stories, illustrations, or films I make, but I rely on the support of readers and friends who contribute a few dollars per month or year. If you’d like a free subscription, or would like to support my work through Substack, here’s that button:
If you’d like behind-the-scenes stories, photos, and videos, I share those with my Patreon supporters. You can support me through Patreon here:
